Flexible Cystoscopy
High-Resolution Bladder Examination with Minimal Discomfort.

What is Flexible Cystoscopy?
Flexible cystoscopy is a diagnostic procedure that allows a urologist to examine the lining of your bladder and the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of your body). Unlike older rigid cystoscopes, our flexible scope is soft and bends easily, following the body's natural curves for a significantly more comfortable patient experience.
Clinical Mechanism
The Clinical Mechanism & Diagnostic Power:
1. High-Definition Visualization: The flexible cystoscope is equipped with a high-resolution camera and light source. It is gently inserted through the urethra, allowing the doctor to inspect the entire bladder lining, urethra, and prostate (in men) with exceptional clarity.
2. What We Detect:
* Hematuria: Investigates the source of blood in the urine.
* Bladder Tumors: Early detection of bladder cancer or polyps.
* Stones: Identifies bladder stones causing pain or blockage.
* Strictures: Detects narrowing of the urethra hindering flow.
* BPH: Assesses the degree of prostate enlargement.
3. Why 'Flexible' Matters: The soft, pliable design causes minimal friction and significantly less discomfort compared to rigid scopes. Performed under local anesthesia (topical gel), the procedure is quick (5-10 mins) and patients can return to normal activities immediately.

Treatment Procedure
Preparation
Topical anesthetic gel applied to urethra. Patient lies on exam table.
Scope Insertion
Thin, flexible scope gently inserted through urethra into bladder.
Examination
Bladder filled with sterile water. Doctor examines urethra and bladder lining.
Completion
Scope removed. Procedure complete. Patient can leave immediately.
Safety & Comfort
Flexible cystoscopy is extremely safe. Mild burning during urination for 24 hours post-procedure is common. Serious complications (bleeding, infection) are rare (<1%).
Suitable Candidates
- Patients with hematuria (blood in urine) of unknown cause.
- Those with recurrent urinary tract infections.
- Men experiencing lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).
- Surveillance for bladder cancer (post-treatment monitoring).
Procedure & Recovery
Diagnostic Exam
Procedure takes 5-10 mins. Mild burning during first 1-2 urinations is normal.
Activity
Any minor irritation typically resolves within 24 hours. Full activity resumption.
Results Discussion
Doctor discusses findings immediately or schedules follow-up based on results.
Frequently Asked Questions

QWhen can I get results?
Usually immediately. Doctor discusses findings right after the procedure.
