UroLift® System for BPH
Treat Enlarged Prostate Without Cutting or Heating Immediate Relief with Zero Sexual Side Effects.

What is UroLift®?
The UroLift® System is a minimally invasive treatment for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) that offers rapid symptom relief without cutting, heating, or removing prostate tissue. It uses tiny, permanent implants to lift and hold the enlarged prostate tissue so it no longer blocks the urethra, effectively 'opening the curtains' to restore normal urine flow.
Clinical Mechanism
The Clinical Mechanism of Action:
1. Transurethral Access: The UroLift delivery device is inserted through the obstructed urethra to reach the enlarged prostate lobes. No incisions are made.
2. Mechanical Compression (Lifting): The device compresses the lateral lobe of the prostate, pushing it away from the urethral channel. This creates an immediate opening.
3. Permanent Implantation: A small, permanent UroLift implant is deployed. This implant acts like a suture or a 'curtain tie-back,' holding the prostate tissue in its compressed position.
4. Unobstructed Flow: This process is repeated on each side (typically 4-6 implants total). The result is a visibly open continuous channel from the bladder neck to the verumontanum, allowing urine to flow freely again immediately after the procedure.

Treatment Procedure
Cystoscopy
Thin scope inserted through urethra under general anesthesia.
Implant Placement
Small UroLift implants placed to lift and compress obstructive tissue.
Channel Opened
Urinary channel widened immediately. Flow improved.
Discharge
Procedure complete in 10-15 minutes. Home same day.
Safety Profile
UroLift has an excellent safety profile. Mild, temporary side effects may include urgency, minor discomfort during urination, or traces of blood in the urine for a few days. In clinical trials, no cases of new-onset permanent erectile dysfunction or ejaculatory dysfunction were reported.
Suitable Candidates
- Men with moderate BPH symptoms and prostate <80cc.
- Sexually active men prioritizing preservation of ejaculatory function.
- Those seeking rapid recovery and return to activity.
- Patients wanting a reversible, non-destructive option.

Frequently Asked Questions
QHow many UroLift implants are needed?
Typically 4-6 implants, depending on the size and anatomy of the prostate. Your urologist will determine the optimal number during assessment.
QCan UroLift implants be felt inside the body?
No. The implants are very small and remain permanently embedded within the prostate tissue. Patients cannot feel them at all.
QWhat if my prostate grows larger in the future?
Additional UroLift implants can be placed, or the procedure can be combined with other BPH treatments. Since UroLift does not destroy tissue, all future treatment options remain available.
